Bough Homes was founded on a simple belief: that the homes we build should be genuinely good — for the people who live in them, for the communities around them, and for the planet we all share.
Bough Homes was born from frustration with the status quo. Too many new homes are built to the minimum standard the law requires — and not a millimetre more. They're built quickly, cheaply, and with little thought for the people who will spend their lives inside them.
We set out to do things differently. We use eco-friendly materials — hempcrete, sustainably sourced timber, natural lime renders — not because we have to, but because they produce homes that are genuinely better to live in. Warmer in winter, cooler in summer, quieter, healthier, and more beautiful.
But a home is more than four walls. We design every development around the community it will create — with edible gardens, wildlife ponds, dog walks, and communal spaces where neighbours become friends. We believe that where you live shapes how you live, and we take that responsibility seriously.
These aren't words on a wall. They're the principles that guide every decision we make — from the materials we specify to the way we treat the people we work with.
Every home we build, we build as if we were moving in ourselves. No shortcuts, no compromise — just exceptional quality from foundations to roof ridge.
We choose materials for their environmental credentials first. Hempcrete, sustainably sourced timber, natural lime renders — because the planet deserves better than minimum standards.
Edible gardens, wildlife ponds, dog walks, communal BBQ spaces — we design community into every development, not as an afterthought, but as the whole point.
We comply with the NPPF because we have to. We exceed it because we want to. Our homes are warmer, quieter, and healthier than anything built to the minimum.
Whether we're buying land or welcoming investors, we deal honestly, move at pace, and treat every person we work with the way we'd want to be treated ourselves.
We build homes that will last centuries, not decades. Our materials, our designs, and our communities are made to endure — and to improve with age.
Hempcrete absorbs CO₂ as it cures and continues to do so throughout its life. Combined with natural lime renders and sustainably sourced timber, our homes have a fraction of the carbon footprint of conventional construction.
The National Planning Policy Framework sets a floor, not a ceiling. We build above it as a matter of principle — better insulation, better air quality, better thermal performance — because our residents deserve homes that genuinely perform.
These aren't optional extras. Every home we build comes with these credentials as standard — because anything less wouldn't be a Bough Home.
We believe the housing industry can do better — and we're proving it, one development at a time. If you share that belief, we'd love to hear from you.
